COUNTY CUP

Rotherham Utd Ladies 2 V  2 Sheffield Wednesday Ladies

4 v 4  A.E.T

Rotherham lost 3 v 4 Pens.

Those who came to watch Rotherham Utd face Sheffield Wednesday certainly got their £1's worth, as the game had everything excepted of a local derby. With the score 2 a piece at full time, then 4 v 4 after extra time, only penalities could decide the result, of which Sheffield Wednesday came out on top. On the day, being knocked out of the County Cup in such a manner was dissappointing, but the Millers put in a good performance, and all the ladies and management know that there is only one title important this year and that is the league.

Match Reprt to follow

W.B.A Ladies 2 v 2 Rotherham Utd Ladies

Rotherham travelled to a much improved West. Brom last Sunday and came away disappointed after a 2-2 draw as this was two points dropped and not one gained.
Rotherham started the better and looked dangerous with Davies and Lynskey causing all sorts of problem with the home defence.
Davies, Wood and Baxby all missed good chances to put the visitors in front but it was only a matter of time before the inevitable happened as Davies slotted home after good work from Longstone.

Rotherham began to dominate and against the run of play West Brom. were awarded a penalty after a reckless challenge from Booth.
Goalkeeper Nash made a superb penalty and rebound save to keep the scores level.

The second half began, as the first finished with Rotherham in control and the home attack being looked after comfortably by a solid looking Rotherham defence.
Booth scored midway through the second half from a corner and Davies and Lynskey missed further chance to extend Rotherhams lead.
The homesters scored from a speculative 25 yard strike into the top corner with Nash stranded.

Rotherham were now penned back for the last 10 minutes and after an horrendous defensive error, the home sides centre forward rounded the keeper and slotted home the equalizer two minutes from time.

Managers' comments:
"In a game that we were in control of for long periods, we let slip a two goal lead and so I am very disappointed with the result.
We had enough chances to finish the game off but we didn't take them.
There is still more twists in store for both ourselves and Coventry City before the season is finished, but more important to us, is that we will decide our own fate. It's still very firmly in our own hands".
