Rotherham Utd. L.F.C.  1  .v.  1  Leafield L.F.C.

Leafield started the brighter of the two teams and settled early with some good crisp passing culminating in a good chance to open the scoring after 15 mins, but their effort went wide of the keepers right hand.

Rotherham settled down and began to dominate the remainder of the first half and should have opened the scoring after misses by Davies and Lynskey, but they went in at half time nil – nil.

The second half saw the visitors take a hold of the game for 10 mins, until Davies scored a fine, far post header from a good Durrands cross from the right.

Rotherham now started to create openings at will and should have gone on to score more goals and seal the victory that they really deserved.

Misses from several Rotherham players created the confidence that Leafield had and they believed that this was to be their day.

The visitors pressed forward for the last 15 mins, and put Rotherham on the back foot, but the home side rarely looked like conceeding, but into the 96th minute of play, a Leafield player shot from 25 yards and joyfully saw the ball squeeze into the top right hand corner of Rose Nash goal.

Paul Durrands, Manager said

"There's an old saying in football that if you don't take your chances, then football will kick you in the teeth"

We certainly were "kicked in the teeth"as we should have won this game by 4 clear goals at least.

The pleasing thing was that we are still creating these chances and getting in the right positions, but we must "put to the sword" teams that come to Rotherham and allow us to play our open football.

If you told me at the beginning of the season that after three games we would be second and with 7 points, especially after the opening fixtures we had to face, I would have bitten your hand off so "yes" I am pleased with the girls but we will have to work harder in certain situations".

Squad: Nash, B.Booth, Baxby, Durrands, Sloan, Wood, Lynskey,Goodman,Longstone, Corns,Davis

Subs Used:  Thickitt (Corns 60mins), Pollock (Baxby 65mins), Tester (Davis 85mins)
