Sheffield Utd 2 V 8 Rotherham
Sheffield Utd. started the brighest of the two teams by playing with a lot of width and pace down either of Rotherhams flanks
When the Rotherham defence got to grips with this threat, they began to pump holes in the Sheffield defence and with no surprise Davies opened the scoring. Longstone scored a terrific solo effort for Rotherhams second only for Sheffield to hit back and net from fully 35 mts. with keeper Nash easily beaten.
Longstone had a precession of two penalties, to complete her hatrick, and Woods netted her first of the season.
Longstone netted her fourth' just before half time, to complete her second four goal haul in a row.
The second half became a "wet lemon" as the game began to get very bitty.
Sheffield Utd tactics of stretching the field with players at all corners of the pitch, led to the game loosing a lot of momentum and shape.
It was with no surprise that Davies scored two more goals to end the game in Rotherhams favour 8-2 as Sheffield did score a further goal, late on in the play, to reward their efforts.
Paul Durrands manager said:
"I was very pleased with the way we converted our chances and also with the way they kept on giving me the the effort, especially later on in the game, when it became a very uninteresting spectacle.
We have to win games, in different ways and I was pleased with the final outcome."

Rotherham 8 V 3 W.B.A
Rotherham United ladies top the table following a 8 – 3 win over newcomers West Bromich Albion.
Longstaone netted a 6 min hatrick to dash the WBA hopes of their first league win. Winless WBA started the game in a positive manner to rock the millers ladies when they conceded after only 3mins. A poorly defended corner saw the west brom stricker steel in at the far post to hit homes the opening goal of the game. They continued to dominate the game for the first 30mins before Longstone deflected a shot from lynskey sending the keeper the wrong way. This seemed to be the start of the millers flowing football and longstone picked up the ball in the West brom midfield and went on a solo run converting a great swerved shot into the far corner of the net leaving the keeper with no chance of saving. Straight from the kick off Needham won the ball and threaded the ball for Longstone to round off her hat trick on 35mins. Rotherham totally dominated the game with great support from woods forcing a corner on 44mins. The resulting corner from Lynskey saw Needham volley at the near post to make it 4 – 0. West Brom did not know what had it them when straight from the KO Durrands received the ball deep in the Millers half and sent a 40yard ball to hard working Davies who was` strong enough to hold off the defenders and deliver a perfect ball across the West brom box for Longstone to blast home her fouth and Rotherhams 5th right on half time.
The ladies took their lead into half time, and the West brom coaches must have been completely shell shocked after their dominance of the first 30 mins.
Rotherham continues their first half success when Davies rocked a close range shot only to see possibly the best save of the game. The resulting corner gave no respite for the West brom ladies and Davies slide in at the back post to get the millers sixth.
Davies found herself with only the keeper to beat and slotted home her second after 70mins. Lynskey rounded off the millers scoring with a lovely strike from just outside the box.
With the game well and truly sealed the ladies took their foot off the gas and conceded two late goals to make the score more respectable although they probably didn’t deserve the two late goals.
